24 hour races with a side of munchkin

This week is shaping up to be a real fun one..

Monday Shannon went back to school and I started my day by taking photos of an 8th grade CPR class in Avalon for the Press, then I came home and decided to do a bit of work for a few hours while planning out the week. Ate dinner then did some more work, and finished out the night with a movie.

Tuesday started with me waking up and eatting a little breakfast before I took off on my 57 mile East Point route, There was a fairly heavy southern wind which caused me to be a bit slow until I hit Weatherby Rd, but I finished in just over 3 hours. Then I did about 30 minutes of work and went to an hour long spin class which took a lot out of me but it was worth it.
After spin I went out to dinner with my Dad and then came home for another bit of work and some tv before bed.

Wednesday I woke up early and did a job for the Press over at the special services school, covering a student run thrift store. Then I came home and did a little bit of work before heading off on a 40 mile ride to Stockton to see Shannon and Nat. The three of us got dinner and then Shannon and I came back home for the night.

Thursday was a lazy day with Shannon, we headed to the bank, then to the store and finally came home to eat some food. No riding and a little bit of work.

Friday was another lazy day with us just lazing around for most of it, spending time together.

Saturday started with a wakeup call from Nat and then going out to mountain bike for a bit, we got home just in time for the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona, which everyone came over to watch later. We ended up spending the night playing Clue, Uno, Munchkin and having a great time!

Sunday Shannon and I slept in and decided to just hang out again because of her leaving Monday. Nothing real exciting happened.

This week coming up looks promising!

Rest weeks are important!

This should be a fun next two weeks, weather forecast says low 40s to high 50s all week! Of course there is also a bit of rain scheduled too.

Monday I slept in..again.. Was planning on just going to a spin class but they were full. So instead I did half an hour on the rollers and some drifting in my yard with the fixed gear. Then I finished my test for a new possible job. Very slow and boring day really.

Tuesday it was raining and I had a job for the Press scheduled. So I skipped riding to do that, it was a nursing home art class that I was scheduled to shoot. After I did that I went to the store and got the ingredients for a paleo granola and made that. Then I checked my email while watching the TDU recap before I jetted off to spin class on the fixed gear, I did 1 hour of spinning and then came home where I rehydrated and ate some food.. Finished off the night with a movie!

Here is some data and photos!

Wednesday I started off with a 16.8 mile ride to the NWW Bridge and back. On the way there I averaged about 21 with a nice bit between 27 and 32, but at the turnaround I ran into a MASSIVE wind and averaged just over 15 on the way home.. I guess thats what I get.

Came home and took a shower before I made dinner, which was a lemon pepper chicken with raisins and steamed green beans.. It was great!

I will be finishing off the night with some TV and an early sleep. Tomorrow I have another assignment from the Press and I also find out about my fate in getting this new part time job.

Thursday started with me waking up at 9 for a 9:30 assignment for the Press, I was to shoot a story involving some therapy dogs at the local special services schools. After I did that I came home and rested for a bit before heading upto the amish market with my dad for some lunch and to pick up a few things. Then it was back home where I did 30 minutes on the rollers followed by some core exercises.
Finally after that I made myself dinner, and sat down to edit the photos and enjoy the rest of my night.

Friday Nat and Cassie came over and Shannon came down from school. We got thai food and Cassie and I did some exercising. I spent a bit of the night reading the guidelines for my new job and then watched tv with everyone.
Saturday we went to the brewery then hung out for a bit, I did some work. Shannon, Cassie, and I went to the store to get stuff to make dinner. We made pancakes using the Honey Porter from the brewery. Then we played some UNO and rummy for the rest of the night before going to sleep.

Sunday I woke up and sat around for a bit before deciding to do some work on the rollers and a bit of core work. I also will do some work before and after dinner.

I considered this to be a rest week mostly, the weather was horrible and I didn't get much of a chance to go outside, next week is looking to be really nice weather wise and I am hoping to put down quite a few miles.

Until we meet again.

Sometimes plans fall apart

Monday I went over to Pete's, him and Nat were finishing up the cutting of Nat's plexi trunk box for his car, and we discussed ways to test it for durability. Then we all hightailed it to Nat's for some Big Bang Theory, which was fun and its always great to watch that show again from season 1.

Tuesday I had planned for a long ride, but just overslept after being up all night at Nat's. So instead, I rode my bike to spin class. I don't know why, but I felt GREAT during the class even during the long climbs, we did 3 or 4 in the class with some out of the saddle sprints mixed in. Then it was off to the roadhouse for a steak with my dad!

Wednesday started off with me being woken by Shannon and then going to the Maurice River Bluffs with Nat, Pete, Shannon, and Cassie. Nat, Pete, and I rode mountain bikes while the girls went for a long walk on another trail. This was our first time riding the bluffs and it was AMAZING, the elevation change was something we rarely see in NJ, we went slow with it being our first time there (and first time on the mountain bikes in a while). We will be returning soon.

Thursday I went for a nice 3 hour East Point loop. It started late so I finished close to sunset with 57 miles on the ticker.. It was a new fun route for me, I will be doing it a lot more for sure.
The rest of the day was spent at home with Shannon, we went to the store and I made dinner (Chicken breast with pasta and snap peas).. Then I made some rocky road bikes to take on rides.

Friday Nat, Cassie, and Pete came over.. We had some food and then played some games nothing too terribly exciting happened, it was a rest day for me.

Saturday I had intended to go on the group ride, but had trouble sleeping so I canned that idea in favor of staying home with Shannon and then going upto Stockton with her, we then went to Moe's for lunch and stopped in at Beacon to say hi and look around on the way home. Finished the night out with the new episode of Big Bang Theory.

Sunday was spent with Shannon and then at a bonfire a Pete's, nothing too exciting.

And that is the week! Until next time!

A paceline is a beautiful thing

Nothing big to report from last week, on Thursday I went upto Bayville to hang out with Shannon. I also went to the Beachwood Bikeshop to check it out and get some socks.
Friday was another short bridge ride just to get the blood flowing.

Saturday I went for my first group ride with the Tuckahoe Bike Shop, it was great.. put myself in the 18-20 pace group. I rode there 16 miles, we did a nice 38 mile ride, and then I rode the 14 miles home . The weather was beautiful and I got to meet some great people, I will be riding with them a lot from now.

And Sunday was a bonfire dinner at Pete's and a bit of rest at my house for me.

Thats it for last week.. Until we meet again!

A new challenge..

So its a new year, and I am probably going to end up making about 1 post a week and try to fill it out a bit more. Starting in a few weeks I am going to push myself to be doing atleast 100 miles a week, when its not below freezing, I will be doing spinning classes once in a while especially as the temperature drops.

Anyway, This week.. I took two days off, Tuesday and Wednesday due to either not getting enough sleep, or people showing up at my house preventing me from riding. Thursday I took a short ride to an hour long spin class.. I really think I am noticing a difference when I goto these things. This ride was real cold and I could barely feel my fingers when I got home, I need to get some full fingered gloves.

Friday I did another wildwood bridge ride that went much better than the previous (no pedaling down the bridge!) Then went out with Nat and Cassie to do some photos of Nat's car followed by some hanging out at my house for a bit.

And here are some of the photos:

Saturday was spent with Shannon, no ride today. Went to dinner with my dad, spent the night at home watching the ball drop.

Today I woke up and decided that even though it was fairly windy out, I needed atleast some sort of riding, even if it was a short one.. So I rode to the overpass in a headwind and then did a bit of a spin on the way home..

Well, thats all for now, the plan for this week in up in the air still early weather report points to it starting off windy so I may spend those two days doing some rollers and spinning.. But then it seems to get warmer and less windy as the week progresses, we will see!

Until we meet again.
